1. Introduction

Welcome to ChibyooShell ("the App", "we", "our", or "us"), developed and operated by Chibyoo ("the Developer"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application ChibyooShell.

Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

The App allows you to store the following data locally on your device:

  • Server hostnames, IP addresses, and SSH port numbers
  • SSH usernames
  • Server display names and group labels

2.2 Sensitive Information Stored in Keychain

The following sensitive data is stored exclusively in the iOS Keychain and never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable iCloud Keychain sync:

  • SSH passwords
  • SSH private keys
  • Sudo passwords

We do not have access to this information at any time.

2.3 Diagnostic and Crash Data

If you have enabled Analytics & Crash Reports in Settings, the App collects:

  • Anonymized crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics
  • Basic usage analytics (screens visited, features used) via Firebase Analytics
  • Device model and iOS version (non-identifiable)
  • App version and build number

This data contains no personally identifiable information and is used solely to improve app stability and user experience.

You may disable this collection at any time in Settings → Analytics & Crash Reports.

2.4 Data We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Your name, email address, or any contact information (unless you contact us directly)
  • The content of your SSH sessions or terminal output
  • File contents accessed via SFTP
  • Server metrics or monitoring data
  • Location data
  • Any data from servers you connect to

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  1. Operate and maintain the App's core functionality (SSH connections, SFTP, server monitoring)
  2. Diagnose and fix bugs and crashes (if analytics are enabled)
  3. Improve app performance and user experience
  4. Respond to your support requests or feedback

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Local Storage

All server credentials and connection settings are stored locally on your device using:

  • iOS Keychain — for passwords and SSH keys (encrypted by the operating system)
  • SwiftData / Core Data — for non-sensitive server metadata

4.2 iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings:

  • Server list and settings are synced via iCloud CloudKit (Apple's encrypted cloud infrastructure)
  • Passwords and SSH keys are synced via iCloud Keychain (end-to-end encrypted by Apple)

We do not operate our own cloud servers for storing your data.

4.3 Security Measures

  • SSH host key verification using Trust On First Use (TOFU) to protect against MITM attacks
  • Biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) available to protect access to the App
  • All sensitive values are stored under kSecAttrAccessibleWhenUnlockedThisDeviceOnly by default

5. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

Service Purpose Privacy Policy
Firebase Crashlytics (Google) Crash reporting https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Firebase Analytics (Google) Usage analytics https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
ipwho.is IP geolocation (server location display) https://ipwho.is

Firebase services are only active if Analytics & Crash Reports are enabled in Settings. The IP geolocation service is used to display your server's geographic location in the App and receives only the server's IP address — not any personal data.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. We may disclose information only in the following circumstances:

  1. With your explicit consent
  2. To comply with legal obligations — if required by law, court order, or governmental authority
  3. To protect rights and safety — to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Developer, users, or the public

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  1. Access — request information about data we hold about you
  2. Deletion — request deletion of your data (note: most data is stored locally and can be deleted by uninstalling the App)
  3. Opt-out — disable analytics collection in Settings at any time
  4. Data portability — export your data (SSH keys can be exported from the App)

To exercise these rights, contact us at: support@chibyoo.com

9. Data Retention

  • Local data is retained until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App
  • Crash and analytics data is retained by Firebase for up to 90 days per Firebase's data retention policies
  • Support emails are retained as long as necessary to resolve your inquiry

10. International Data Transfers

If you use Firebase services (with analytics enabled), your anonymized diagnostic data may be processed on Google's servers, which may be located outside your country of residence. Google complies with applicable data protection frameworks including GDPR.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
